: ASPECT RATIO : BERBAJU KURONG

Photographer, Momofarn had creatively showcased a photo series titled “Berbaju Kurong” (In traditional Malay costume). He portrayed the images of how Malay women dresses up in their daily life to work as corporate wear or even out for a stroll and leisures in the early years of the 80s – 90s in Singapore. Baju Kurong had been the identity and traditional wear for the Malay community in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. We saw how it faded away over the years when the new generation tried to modernised the costume in every way and these costumes are only common during festive season like Hari Raya locally. Does the Malay community still carry the pride of the Baju Kurong today?
