In time for the holiday season, adidas Singapore launches ‘Tis the SZN to Samba which delivers a footwear and apparel collection, and a series of special gifts, installations and games inspired by the classic Samba OG and the elevated Sambae. Beginning 1 December, customers can visit two giant adidas Samba OG installations and access these exclusive Samba-inspired perks at its flagship store, adidas Brand Centre Orchard (BCO).
From Samba to Sambae
First introduced at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil, the combination of fitted leather panels, padded suede toe box and incredible grip from the rubber outsole made the Samba the best-known indoor soccer shoe of its time. It offered players a one-to-one fit and unmatched kicking precision. Its sleek, instantly recognisable design paired with the iconic 3-Stripes design made its way into British youth fashion circles and has been a staple footwear ever since.
The Sambae elevates the timeless design of the Samba, altering the proportions of the classic trainers through the lens of modern fashion sensibilities. The Sambae maintains iconic design elements like the suede T-toe box and classic leather upper yet delivers a chunkier design with an exaggerated rubber platform midsole.
Specially for the festive season, and in celebration of the rich heritage of the Samba, the brand has commissioned a mural by local artist Iqbal (@ebao_art) titled Streets of Samba to be installed at BCO. The piece pays homage to the Samba, a sneaker that transitioned from the football pitches of the 1950 World Cup in Brazil to the must-have sneaker under the Christmas tree. The mural depicts a central London street taken over by numerous adidas Samba OGs.
Spot the Hidden Sambas Contest
Everyone will be seeing Sambas this holiday season! From 1 to 31 December, shoppers can join in the Spot the Hidden Sambas Contest by spotting the correct number of adidas Sambas in the Streets of Samba mural at BCO – they stand to win a pair of adidas Originals Samba OG or Sambae.
The contest is open only to adiClub members and Instagram profiles that are set to ‘Public’. To enter the contest, complete the following steps:
● Step 1: Spot the hidden Sambas on the mural.
● Step 2: Take and upload a creative Instagram story with the giant Samba OG installations at the entrance of BCO. Tag @adidassg and #adidasSG with the number of Sambas spotted in the mural (count them carefully!).
Three winners with the correct guesses and most creative submissions will be selected to win a pair of Samba OG or Sambae from 8 Jan 2024. Open to adiClub members only. Terms and Conditions apply.
