BEHIND THE BRAND : MOON AND BEAM : EP 10

Our first encounter with Moon & Beam was at Sole Superior, where their aesthetic and visual merchandising stood out. They later became one of our vendors at the Hustlers Reunion and participated in the series of streetwear community meet-up, illustrating their active involvement and commitment to the local streetwear scene.

What inspired the name “Moon & Beam” for your brand?

Paul and me(Shawn) are big fans of New Balance for many years. There is a particular colorway which was called the MOON AND BEAM. Lighthouse and beams flashes out in my head, giving me the inspiration of hope and perseverance. So we decided to create our clothing brand and name it MOON AND BEAM.

How would you describe the overall aesthetic and style of Moon & Beam?

Moon & Beam delivers a laid-back, contemporary minimalist style with a touch of Japanese street fashion vibe!

What are the core values or message that you want your brand to convey?

We live for the ones who burns for what they love. We believe everyone’s got that one thing — a dream, a passion — something raw and real enough to move people. We’re here for the ones who chase it with everything they’ve got. Because if it’s worth dreaming, it’s worth bleeding for. So carry it. Get obsess over it. Die with it. Moon and Beam isn’t just about clothes — it’s a salute to your relentless spirit.

Can you tell us about the design process behind your most popular pieces?

One of our popular pieces was the College Tee series. This concept was inspired by vintage college tee, it represents the concept of timeless.  It comes with a black on black and white on navy colorway showcasing the moon and the eclipse.

How does the streetwear culture influence your brand’s creations?

Somewhere around 2021, we were inspired by the skateboarding culture and “Cityboy” lifestyle. Back then, it was hard to find the baggy silhouette apparels, so we started to make our own.

What sets Moon & Beam apart from other streetwear brands in the market?

Our tshirt is extremely oversized and well curated with mixed of fabrics.

Are there any collaborations or future projects you’re excited to share?

We have two collaborations coming soon. It’s quite different than what we had released before. Stay tune!

How do you ensure sustainability and ethical practices in your manufacturing process?

To be honest, it’s really tough but we do everything from scratch. Preparing all designs process, specs and details to the manufacturer. Working with manufacturer closely and sometimes physical meeting and visits are required to avoid misunderstanding, mistakes and ensuring smoother process.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start their own streetwear brand?

Making good quality product is a minimum requirement, marketing is the key to grow your brand.

Where can people shop or learn more about Moon & Beam?

You can make purchase through our online shop, we do worldwide shipping. The nearest multi-label store that stock our products is, Endless Clothing in Johor Bahru, Malaysia for now. I’m still looking for opportunity to extend our products in Singapore. Thank you for your support!
